Is Spite Controlling You?

Scripture Reading - Romans 12:17-21 "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written , Vengeance is mine; I will repay , saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger , feed him; if he thirst , give him drink : for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

The way I react to adverse treatment sometimes reveals to me areas in which I need a lot of growth and change in my walk with Christ in this life. I can't seem to get the eye for an eye mentality out of my actions. It feels as though I am thinking that because I have been wronged, I can retaliate with an equal or lesser wrong. The process of you hurt me, I'll hurt you is as far from Christ as the east is from the west. We do not overcome evil with evil, we overcome evil with good, the goodness of Christ. It is not our job to proclaim sentence upon our enemies, that job belongs to the Lord. Our responsibility is to love where there is no love, to turn the other cheek if necessary. Pure Christ-like love is a beautiful thing, the most beautiful thing upon this earth.

I'm so glad Christ is not spiteful. He is full of grace, unmerited favor. He never shuts Himself off from us. He desires us to turn toward Him. Take a look at yourself this morning. Are you full of spite and is grace toward others absent from your life? If this is the case, practice today's scripture reading in your life. Your enemies will indeed notice and may possibly be turned toward Christ in the process.

Be Blessed and Live in the NOW!!!
