Our Destiny

Scripture Reading - Ecc. 7:2 "It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart."

I was shocked this week by the unexpected death of a friend. When someone appears to be healthy and then suddenly passes away it brings to mind how fragile life really actually is. We sometimes think we are invincible and live our lives that way. Today's scripture reading really reinforces the fact that we must consider that death is our final destiny. It is going to happen to us, and we do not know when. We must keep this thought in our minds and live our lives accordingly. In Francis Chan's study resources video on chapter 2 of his book Crazy Love, the author asks the question, "If today was the day that you actually died and came before God, would you have any regrets of things you wished you had done?" Once you had answered that question, you were instructed to figure out how you could actually live a life where you would have no regrets. In other words, we need to live like this could our last day, even our last minute. There are things we want to do, need to do, that don't need to be put off any longer. We quite possibly may never have another chance to do them. Maybe your regret is a family situation that needs forgiveness and reconciliation, maybe it is someone who God has laid upon your heart to share the gospel message of Jesus with, and even greater still, maybe you have never decided to follow Jesus and make Him your Lord and Savior. Whatever good intentions you may have, change them from intentions to actions. It may be your last chance.

Be Blessed and Live in the NOW!!!
